Cary and Bayla

Cary and Bayla play old-time music with harmony vocals, ranging from fast barnburners to soulful ballads, with banjo, guitar, and some fiddle.  Cary has been playing and singing around WNC for 25 years, and Bayla is an award winning 16 year-old rising banjo star from Leicester, NC, who has been featured at IBMA, Merlefest, played with Bela Fleck, and won 1st place at the Galax Fiddlers Convention this past summer.  Cary was Bayla’s first teacher through the JAM program in Black Mountain, and the two recently reunited through a Fine Tuned Mentorship that was sponsored by Blue Ridge Music Trails.  After a year of recording and playing gigs with Fine Tuned, Cary and Bayla are now booking shows for the new year to continue their musical collaboration. Email caryfridley@gmail.com to book our show at your venue.

Down the Road with the Blue Ridge Music Trails podcast Season 4 Episode 20: Fine Tuned: Bayla Davis and Cary Fridley

Haywood Ramblers

The Haywood Ramblers play regional songs and tunes of Western North Carolina and the Southern Appalachian mountains.  Cary Fridley and banjoist Travis Stuart collaborate with area regional musicians to create a performance of Appalachian fiddle tunes, Baptist spirituals, banjo tunes, square dance hoedowns, traditional ballads, Carter Family songs that capture the spirit of the mountains.

The Haywood Ramblers are part of the next generation of traditional mountain musicians, dedicated to honoring the old tunes and songs of the Southern Appalachian mountains. Travis Stuart is world renown for his masterful performances of Appalachian banjo tunes, and Cary for her high lonesome singing and guitar work with the traditional old-time band The Freight Hoppers. They perform as a duo or a full band with Maddy Mullany  and Clarke Williams on fiddle and guitar.
